Wieland’s keynote, titled “Navigating Trends and Challenges in Supply Chain Management,” emphasized the increasingly complex and uncertain situation faced by contemporary supply chains.

In his speech, he highlighted the increasing vulnerability of global supply chains, driven by ecological crises, geopolitical tensions, and unpredictable ‘black swan’ events. Wieland offered insights into how businesses and governments can navigate these challenges through persistence, adaptability, and transformability.

Wieland engaged the audience with a detailed analysis of key capabilities that enhance supply chain resilience, such as collaboration, adaptive learning, and forward-thinking strategies. Moderated by Martin Breum, a Q&A session followed, during which Wieland fielded questions on how to strengthen supply chain resilience in the face of increasing volatility and uncertainty.

Henrik F. Brodersen, Director General at the Danish Critical Supply Agency, opened the conference. His address was followed by Wieland’s keynote and discussions on pharmaceutical supply security, Nordic cooperation, and opportunities for future collaboration on supply chain issues across the region. Flemming Sonne, Chairman of the Nordic Pharmaceuticals Forum, and Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, Director General at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, were among other notable speakers throughout the event.

As a respected figure in the field, Wieland’s presentation emphasized the importance of resilient supply chains, a message that resonated with the diverse audience of policymakers, industry leaders, and academics in attendance.

Hosted by the Danish Critical Supply Agency, the summit continued with further discussions on Nordic cooperation and supply chain security solutions.
