Presentation

Jan Martin Lemnitzer is Assistant Professor at the Department of Digitalization, Copenhagen Business School. He holds a MA degree from Heidelberg University and completed his PhD at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was previously Director of Studies at Oxford University’s Changing Character of War programme and a lecturer at Christ Church and Pembroke College Oxford. While teaching at the University of Southern Denmark he co-organized the Danish Tech ambassador’s first cybersecurity conference in January 2018 (jointly with the European Council on Foreign Relations). In 2021, he was a member of working groups 4 (cyber norms) and 6 (ICT supply chain security) of the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace.

Coming from a background in international politics and history, his research explores cyber norms and cyber security in international politics. More recently he has been focusing on business cyber security, cyber insurance and cyber security regulation (especially its implementation). Since national security strategies for cyberspace require unprecedented levels of coordination with the activities of private businesses the ambition is to forge links between policymakers, tech experts and businesses. In 2021, Jan ran a multi-stakeholder workshop series on challenges regarding the implementation of the EU’s NIS 2 directive on the protection of critical infrastructure (kindly sponsored by Microsoft). The link for the report can be found below here. Jan is a regular contributor to Danish and international media on cyber security and cyber conflict.
