Department of Management, Society and Communication
I am an Associate Professor of Business & Society specializing in the intersection of business, humanitarianism, and human rights.
My research on business and humanitarianism examines the design and implementation of humanitarian initiatives involving private-sector firms, as well as how firms and their humanitarian partners collaborate to ensure ethical and effective outcomes. I use in-depth qualitative methods and set-theoretic techniques to provide insights relevant to businesses and humanitarian practitioners. Additionally, I develop teaching cases and modules to bring the topic of business and humanitarianism into business school classrooms.
I am also actively engaged in several projects on business and human rights. Alongside excellent collaborators, this line of work explores how stakeholders can engage multinational enterprises on alleged human rights infringements and how affected communities can hold even the most difficult-to-reach corporations to account.
I served as a Senior Editor for Organization Studies for six years (2016-2022) and still serve on the journal’s editorial board. I am or have been on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Management.
For more information about my work on business and humanitarianism, please visit the website of the HUMAC project (Corporate Engagement in Humanitarian Action), a generously funded research project supported by Velux Fonden.
