Between Success and Failure: Imperfect Projects as Common Practice
The Centre for Organization and Time (COT, IOA) invites to a COT Research Seminar: Between Success and Failure:Imperfect Projects as Common Practice /w Iben Stjerne, Sunny Mosangzi Xu, Jonathan Feddersen, Christian Thuesen & Jan Mouritsen
In contemporary society, project failure is an all-too-common occurrence, from the Danish super hospitals to the Berlin Brandenburg airport. Despite this, we continue to invest a substantial portion of our GDP into projects. But why do we persist in organizing our investments in a way that seems to fail consistently? And what is behind the façade of project success and failure?
Centre for Organization and Time invites you to a research seminar exploring project success, failure, and imperfection from a temporal lens. We extend and nuance the discussions with a through-time process view and a focus on temporariness.
The seminar spotlights the Project Management Journal Special Issue, “Between Success and Failure: Imperfect Projects as Common Practice,” edited by Alfons van Marrewijk, Iben Sandal Stjerne, and Jörg Sydow. We at COT are proud to have two papers published in this Special Issue.
To celebrate the SI and our contribution to the field of project studies, we have Iben Stjerne to open the seminar by introducing the SI. The seminar will feature two paper presentations by their first authors, Sunny Mosangzi Xu and Jonathan Feddersen. We have invited Christian Thuesen and Jan Mouritsen as discussants to open a lively discussion with you on success, failure, and learning from imperfections.
We look forward to seeing you there!
