The State response time is long

Survey: Danish Municipalities and regions reply to e-mails faster than the State, and their replies are more precise

Municipalities and regions are the fastest to respond

Professor Kim Normann Andersen and Assistant Professor Ravi Vatrapu have examined the status of digitalisation in the public sector by means of a recent e-mail survey. They have asked a number of employees in the State, municipalities and regions about when and where to pick up an item of mail.

The Danes are in front

The survey, which is a replication of a survey conducted in New Zealand and Australia show that the regions and the municipalities respond very quickly and that practically everybody respond within two days. That is significantly faster than the colleagues in the ministries and agencies.

Other than the State's long response time, it is worth noting that almost one third of state employees had not responded after three workdays.

- The Danish municipalities do considerably better than their colleagues in New Zealand and Australia, and another important point is that the municipalities respond in more detail, for example by attaching maps and/or GPS coordinates, says Kim Normann Andersen.
