This is a description of our Vestas Cloud Collaboration case in collaboration with Microsoft, LEGO and IIM Bangalore.

RobotLab facilitated a workshop for Vestas the 25th of January 2012 which was a Proof-of-Concept on how to spur Global Online Realtime Knowlege Sharing and develop Virtual High Performance Teams by using Creative Problem Solving techniques and LEGO Mindstorms.

The workshop consisted of two teams, one in Denmark (Vestas) and one in India (IIM Bangalore)

Both the Danes and the Indian teams got the same assignments. The Danes had to build the robot and the Indian team had to code the solutions to the robot. Robot and code was merged online realtime when they believed they had a solution. In close to 90% of the time hardware and software didn't solve the problem due to that they didn't describe/communicate their solution.

With this setup, teams were forced to focus on communicating their view on a possible solution independenty of language, culture, geographical distance, and mindset in a hands-on, learning-by-doing environment with use of all the latest cloud collaboration technologies sponsored by Microsoft.

We could describe the workshop with these words:

Cloud Collaboration

Virtual Creative Problem Solving

International Teambuilding

Virtuel High Performance Teams.
