Conference on female entrepreneurship
Conference on female entrepreneurship China and Denmark
The number of women starting their own business has grown significantly across the world over the past decade. Today, women-owned businesses make crucial contributions to employment, innovation and wealth creation.
Even so, women are still considerably less likely to become entrepreneurs and their businesses tend remain small in terms of employment and sales and relatively less profitable. In Denmark only 1 out of 500 women become an entrepreneur, only 1 out of 4 new ventures is founded by women and less than 12% of female businesses directly engage in exporting.
What underpins women’s decision to enter business ownership? What are the barriers to female entrepreneurship? How do successful female entrepreneurs overcome disadvantages to generate and operate high-growth businesses? What economic, social and institutional policies are essential to improve female entrepreneurship rates and the performance of female businesses?
To promote a timely debate around these issues, on May 23rd, CBS is hosting the conference
