A Changing China
Abstract:
China is undergoing profound changes as the country is trying to replace an increasingly outdated economic model – which has delivered exceptional economic growth for three decades – with a model suited for a maturing and more advanced economy. The changes are taking place against a back drop of increasing external and internal pressures, such as weak demand in main exports markets, ballooning local government and corporate debt, stagnant productivity growth, manufacturing cost increases, overcapacity in many sectors and a rapidly aging population.
The presentation will cover the following questions:
- What may China’s new path for growth look like?
- What is the economic outlook for 2016?
- Are China’s days as the factory floor of the world over?
- What is the focus on the new five year plan?
- The Belt and Road initiative.
- How do all these changes affect the position and outlook of Maersk in China?
