Public Procurements Days was organized by CBS Law Department in cooperation with the Danish Competition- and Consumer Authority. The conference took place the 9th-10th of February at CBS.
The conference concerned issues of legal politics in an interdisciplinary perspective. Danish Minister of Business and Growth opened the conference, whilst Head of Danish Competition- and Consumer Authority closed the conference.
The Minister stressed that the public procurements laws is a focus area during the Danish Chairmanship, and a new a agreement on directives is to be reached during this period. The Head of Danish Competition- and Consumer Authority closed the conference by saying, that they now had collected a bunch of information, which will be used directly in the negotiations in Brussels, and that it had been fantastic to participate in a conference, which had collected legal and economic researchers from the EU, practitioners from the legal profession and business Europe meaning that many ideas of how to improve procurements in the future had now come into play.
This work is of high importance, as EU spends more than 2000 billions Euros per year on procurement. 420 billion euros are procured under the directives. So the significance is great if this conference with its 140 participants and speakers can affect EU law.
A conference book comprising of all presentations and papers will be published before the negotiations of the new directives are concluded, and will be sent to the EU Commission and the Chairmanship.
