Welcome to Dr. Ilona Szőcs
New staff at the Department of Marketing
I am very happy to welcome Dr. Ilona Szőcs to the Department of Marketing.
Ilona is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Marketing and International Business at the University of Vienna (Austria) and currently serves as the National Representative of Austria at the European Marketing Academy (EMAC). Initially educated in Slovakia and in the USA, Ilona received her PhD from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and has been working for several years now in research and teaching in Austria and abroad. Her research, focusing on consumer behavior and stereotypes as well as corporate social responsibility/sustainability, has appeared in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of World Business, and the British Journal of Management. Before joining academia, Ilona worked in management consulting, corporate marketing, and business agencies supporting SMEs.
Ilona will be joining CBS in September 2023 with a research project funded by the prestigious Carlsberg Foundation. She will work on the project led by Dr. Milena Micevski, focusing on contemporary issues in sales processes. The research project draws on insights from social psychology (such as consumer stereotypes) to disentangle a variety of factors and mechanisms which may impact the success of salespeople-customer encounters. Ilona will be closely collaborating with Milena and the rest of the research team in developing, carrying out, and disseminating the findings of this research.
Welcome, Ilona, we look forward to welcoming you to the department!
