Two new positions of trust for Peter Colliander
Associate Professor at CBS selected as member of advisory council in Germany and as expert in EU project
Peter Colliander, who is currently on leave from his associate professorship at the Department of International Language Studies and Computational Linguistics (ISV) to attend to his professorship in German Language and Culture in Finland, has been appointed two new positions of trust in Germany.
He has been selected as the first non-German member of Beirat Germanistik, an advisory council for Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). DAAD helps to manage a large part of the non-academic research resources in Germany, and with an annual budget of 250 million euro, the council finances thousands of scholarships for foreign students and researchers.
Beirat Germanistik is also responsible for the planning and completion of large annual conferences in all parts of the world where it is possible to study German. As part of his membership, Peter Colliander will also be a member of a subcommittee that will function as a steering committee in connection with a comprehensive evaluation of German studies worldwide.
Strengthening of English and German at Russian universities
Moreover, Peter Colliander has been attached to an EU financed project at Leibnitz-Universität in Hanover as an external expert. The aim of the project is to ensure an update of the language policies at Russian technical universities. Among other things, the project is intended to hold courses in English and German to prepare Russian students for practical training abroad and to attract international students.
