US Elections and Global Challenges

The United States is entering what could be a historically long campaign for the highest office of government. Who are the contenders in the race for the November 2008 Presidential Elections, what are the issues and how will the race affect the role of the US in dealing with ongoing global challenges and with its relations to partners and allies? These and related issues will be discussed in the lecture.

Søren Jensen, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Danish Embassy in Washington, has many years experience in foreign policy. He has worked in the Foreign Ministry since 1988 and has held many different offices, most recently that of Director of the Security Policy Department. He has been attached to the Embassy in Washington since 2005.
