Business Speaker of the Year
Peder Tuborgh from Arla Foods wins
At a conference on rhetoric and management, the CEO of Arla Foods, Peder Tuborgh, was voted Business Speaker of the Year.
- We have selected Peder Tuborgh as the winner because he breaks the boundaries of traditional business communication and because he very consciously creates a dialogue with his audience. He steps into a room, he addresses his listeners directly, and he tells stories. Oral communication has a logic of its own and in order to be successful, one must not be afraid of spontaneity or of the reactions of the audience. Peder Tuborgh really masters this, says PhD Fellow, Jonas Gabrielsen from Copenhagen Business School.
Get up and talk to your employees
The winner was selected on the basis of video of the nominated speakers. The assessment was been made by Jonas Gabrielsen and a consultant from the communications company, Rhetor.
- Mastering good oral communication is just one of many aspects of good rhetoric. This year, we have chosen to focus on this aspect because, unfortunately, it is often neglected in Danish businesses. It is important to have black numbers on the bottom line and it is important to be cited in the media – but it is also important to be able to get up and talk to your employees or shareholders, says Søren Mikkel Berg, Advisor in Rhetoric at Rhetor.
Peder Tuborgh was awarded the prize of Business Speaker of the Year at the conference Retorik.biz, arranged by the Danish Chamber of Commerce, Copenhagen Business School, Rhetor, and the Danish newspaper, Jyllandsposten.
