CBS OFFICIALLY
CBS remains independent
At a press conference yesterday Helge Sander revealed his new map of Denmark in terms of universities and the research sector – and it is now a reality that CBS was granted independence as required.
“CBS will maintain its current profile. The university will concentrate on management and focus on the special task of supporting the other universities in Eastern Denmark with education and research within management and business economics”, says a statement from the Ministry of Science.
“DTU, Copenhagen University and CBS have stated their argument to the Minister as to why it is not appropriate to merge for the moment,” Director of the Board at CBS, Anders Knutsen, says “ and we are pleased to have been heard.”
“CBS is the 3d largest business school in Northern Europe – and a merger would not be of any administrative advantage. CBS will develop the current academic synergies already in existence at Copenhagen University and DTU with the rest of the country’s universities – and even better: increase and develop the school’s strategic alliance with some of the best business schools the world over for years to come” he says.
CBS is now a mid-size university like Aalborg University, Syddansk University, Roskilde University Center. The three biggest universities are Copenhagen University, Aarhus University and DTU – while the IT University remains the smallest one. The question of the future of The Danish University of Education will be solved by the end of the year.
