First Danish Vice President
CBS Professor selected as Vice President of the Academy of International Business
The world’s leading organisation for researchers within international business, the Academy of International Business, will be headed by a Dane when the annual conference programme is planned for 2009.
Professor Torben Pedersen from the CBS Center for Strategic Management and Globalization has been selected as Vice President by the members of the organisation.
-I was surprised by the many votes I received. The three other candidates work at American universities, and the country with the most members in the organisation is the USA, Torben Pedersen says.
1,200 papers to be evaluated
Torben Pedersen will be responsible for the annual conference in 2009 so he can now look forward to the exhaustive work of coordinating and planning the programme and the themes that will constitute the framework of the conference.
He expects that around 1,200 papers will be sent to the conference and that they will all have be evaluated before the decision is taken as to which papers will be presented at the conference. Torben Pedersen expects to find the 1500-2000 people needed to take part in the comprehensive evaluation work mainly from among the members.
For Torben Pedersen, his new job is an exclusive opportunity to create an international network and wider recognition for CBS within international business. His own research focuses in particular on the role of Danish businesses in the globalisation process and, therefore, it is not unthinkable that globalisation and its consequences will be a central theme of the conference in 2009.
The organisation behind the conference
The Academy of international Business is the world’s leading organisation for researchers within the field of international business. The organisation was established in 1959 and today, it has 3,016 members in 72 countries.
