First year CBS student heads off to Goldman Sachs
A CBS career consultant encourages students to take an internship early in their academic career
Kristine Simonsen, a first year student on the BSc Programme in International Business, will soon be packing her bags to travel to London for a ten-day intensive internship programme at the investment banking firm, Goldman Sachs.
It is very difficult to get an internship at Goldman Sachs, which is one of the world’s largest investment banking firms. Kristine Simonsen, who was first interviewed by phone and then in person in London, is looking forward to the internship.
- Goldman Sachs is a very exciting company and I am sure that I will learn something from my internship there. I hope that I will do well so that I can apply for an internship again next year and perhaps get the opportunity to take a longer internship. I applied for the internship because I want to know more about investment banking and find out whether to specialise within the field of finance, Kristine Simonsen emphasises.
Apply for internships
Finn Kjerluff Hansen, Senior Consultant at the CBS Career Center encourages students to apply for internships early in their academic careers, especially within investment banking.
-If you, for example, are interested in investment banking, an internship will give you the opportunity to find out whether investment banking is something you would like to specialise in. If you then find out that investment banking is not right for you, you still have time to find an alternative field to specialise in. No matter what you end up deciding, an internship at an investment banking firm in London will look good on your CV, and an internship is always a good opportunity to create a network.
-At the CBS Career Center, we inform students of their options, help them to apply, and give them good advice on the tough interviews that they will have to attend, says Finn Kjerulff Hansen. He is very pleased to see the results of the work of the Career Center that tries to prepare students for the employment process within investment banking, which is a field that many of the world’s best students apply to.
