Maja Horst receives award for communication that changes attitudes
Researcher from CBS wins communication award for the second year in a row
She has recently published a book on the power of business journalism, and Thursday 23 April, Maja Horst was granted the Research Communication Award 2009. The award is granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Maja Horst receives the award for her involving communication of controversial technologies and research results, for instance in stem cell research. She is also behind projects with interactive installations that invite the audience to become an active part of research communication by building models and indicate their attitudes by putting balls in pipes, etc.
- Maja Horst’s contribution to the public debate is of significant value to society. Through innovative communication forms, she is able to inform and at the same time enter into a dialogue with the audience. She has demonstrated that research can be communicated by other means than words, and that research communication in 2009 is a living, learning and involving discipline. She is an inspiration to other researchers, says Science Minister Helge Sander
32 candidates to one award
Every year, the Research Communication Award is granted to a researcher who, through competent communication, is able to disseminate his/her research to a broad audience. 32 candidates were nominated for the award.
The Science Minister presented the award at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense to kick off the national Festival of Research, which takes place from 23 to 25 April. Universities, educational and cultural institutions, companies and many more are therefore inviting people to more than 225 free events.
Last year, Professor Ove K. Pedersen from the International Center for Business and Politics received the award. This makes it the second year in a row that a social researcher is honoured for his/her communication of research.
