15 percent more academic staff at CBS over three years. More research and better teaching

Just now, CBS is searching for 70 new academic employees through job ads in both Danish and international magazines. And more recruitment is in the pipeline over the next two years.  According to Per Holten-Andersen, President of CBS, the new employees are to strengthen research, provide more research-based teaching and more teaching hours, especially to master's students.

- Our research and teaching must be subject to constant development, and we are now boosting both areas significantly. We are increasing the number of academic staff by 15 percent during the next two-three years, says Per Holten-Andersen.

Better options

In 2010 and 2011, CBS has strengthened teaching activities by making smaller classes, providing more supervision and increasing the number of teaching hours in some of the programmes. Last year, the senior management started the process of designing the strategy for the recruitment of new, permanent academic staff based on the needs and requirements of the degree programmes that CBS is offering in the years to come. In the budget for 2012, CBS has given the recruitment of academic staff the highest priority.   This applies to both permanent and time-limited positions.

- The students will experience an increase in the quality of the teaching activities. The quality of the teaching is increased, because we will have better options and more academic staff - permanent staff, who is deeply rooted within their subject. We are investing substantially in educating the next generation of Danish business leaders, says Per Holten-Andersen.

The academic staff will be recruited at all departmental levels in the consideration of where the need is greatest. CBS has 600 permanent academic staff members. With the future recruitments in 2012, 2013 and 2014, the aim is to expand the group by 15 percent.
