More women leaders
Businesswomen in the Scandinavian countries
Few women are able to get a foot in the door of the top executive offices in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. This is why CBS, Sweden’s largest network for businesswomen, and universities throughout Scandinavia are focusing on women leaders.
Role models at CBS
On Tuesday, 20th November, seminars about women leaders will open throughout Scandinavia. This will take place simultaneously at 20 universities in all three countries.
CBS guests will include role models from the Swedish network for businesswomen, “Ruter Dam”, who offer executive development programmes for women, and who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. Today, the network’s women move around in the higher echelons of business life, but they started their careers in the same way that students do at CBS.
Women need to be determined to contribute
Director for CBS Connect, Mette Reebirk, has her own experiences with the subject, and she believes that the problem with the lack of women leaders goes both ways.
-Companies need to resolve to take on more women, and women also need to b e determined to contribute their talents, for example, by working with the executive committee. This will help to get them in, says Mette Reebirk.
As a woman, you can do a lot to increase your chances in reaching the top yourself. It is often not just your CV, but your personal qualities and approach to your career that also play a crucial role. But what exactly are the barriers that are preventing businesswomen from reaching the executive positions? This is what the introductory speakers and participants in the panel debates throughout Scandinavia will be discussing.
