Susana Borrás will be the new head of the Department of Business and Politics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS)

On 1 May 2011, she will take over the managerial responsibility from Lars Bo Kaspersen, who has been director of the then centre and head of department since January 2008.

Susana Borrás is professor at CBS’ Department of Business and Politics and conducts research in innovation management and politics - particularly within the EU.

She is member of the Danish Council for Research Policy whose task is to provide independent advice to the science minister, the Folketing and others on Danish and international research policy.

Focus on innovation and EU-governance

Susana Borrás holds a Jean Monnet professorship and is president of the Danish Society for European Studies (DSE). Until recently, she was the European editor of the international peer-reviewed journal Science and Public Policy.

Her research focuses on two areas:

  • Governance and management of innovation systems with a particular focus on the design and rationale of innovation policy, theory of and patterns behind innovation systems, politics in a knowledge-based economy, regional cluster policies and the legitimacy of and the democratic aspects of innovation management.

  • EU governance - with a special focus on new forms of management and governance (new policy instruments), especially the open method of coordination, the policies behind the Lisbon Strategy, the role of the European Commission, new national coordination mechanisms and network governance in the EU.
