Professor Torben Pedersen nominated for Vice President
Vice President for The Academy of International Business
Perhaps, for the first time ever, it will be a Dane who wins the title. And perhaps it will even be a Professor from CBS – Torben Pedersen from the Center for Strategic Management and Globalization is one of the nominated researchers for the title of Vice President for one of the world’s leading organisations for researchers.
The X on the ballot card
By January 7, 2008, approximately 3000 members of The Academy of International Business will choose their next two Vice Presidents, and Torben Pedersen is one of the four names on the ballot card.
- For me this is a unique opportunity to develop a broad international network and obtain valuable international recognition, says Torben Pedersen.
For a number of years, he has been a member of the organisation, but this is the first time that a Dane is nominated to be at the head of the organisation, which has members from 73 different countries.
First flattery, then work
The candidates for the title of Vice President are appointed by a nomination committee and it was a surprised Professor Torben Pedersen who opened the e-mail with the invitation to run for the candidacy.
- My first thought was that it was very flattering. And my next thought was whether I was really ready to let work take up such a big part of my life in the year where I would be responsible for the annual conference programme, says Torben Pedersen, who, however, quickly decided to run.
In the past years, Professor Torben Pedersen has been known for his research on particularly the role of Danish companies in the globalisation process, and he hopes to put globalisation on the agenda in The Academy of International Business.
The Organisation
The Academy of International Business is the world’s leading organisation for researchers within the field of International Business. It was founded in 1959, and today has 2955 members from 73 countries.
