Record-high voter turnout at CBS
The interest in having a say in CBS' course has never been larger. A record-high number of students voted for the highest number of candidates ever at an election at CBS.
The overall voter turnout was 29.59 per cent, which is 0.66 percentage points more than the last election in 2011. 5,906 out of 19.960 students voted, which, according to the Election Secretariat, is the highest number of students and staff members ever to vote in the history of CBS.
New student representative on the board
With 1,391 votes, Anne Marie Larsen from CBS Students won a seat on the Board of Directors for a two-year period. Conservative Students, the new electoral list at CBS, received several votes for the Board and gained seats on two study boards.
According to the Election Secretariat, polls of the individual elections show that the students primarily show interest in having immediate influence on their programme. The students primarily voted for their study boards and then for the Board and the Academic Council.
The Academic Council had the following new members: Academic staff: Lisbeth Verstraete Hansen, Kristian Miltersen, Keld Laursen, Suzanne C. Beckmann, Peter Bogetoft, Can Seng Ooi, Signe Vikkelsø, Nanna Mik-Meyer and Niels Åkerstrøm Andersen. Students: Jan Sebastian Hillebrand, Sheryne Hafez and Anders Meldgaard Kjemtrup. Technical-administrative staff: Henrik Hermansen and Lise Balslev.
More women elected to councils and boards
The Election Secretariat points towards two new election tendencies, the first one being the fact that more international students make their mark. More international full-degree students have been elected for study boards and two out of three student representatives in the Academic Council are international.
The other tendency is that the women are making themselves heard. All the student candidates for seats on the Board were women and the new Academic Council is probably more gender equal than ever at CBS. Four in nine academic staff representatives are women, one in three student representatives are women and one of the two technical-administrative staff representatives is a man.
The election results are preliminary, as they are subject to approval by the Election Board in week 49. The Election Board has also decided that the elections for two study boards must be carried out again and will find a date as soon as possible.
