PRESS RELEASE

Ethics, sustainability and responsibility are the keywords on Responsibility Day - the first school day for 2,500 new bachelor students at CBS on Thursday 1 September.

The agenda includes both presentations from CBS' researchers and input from the corporate sector. Christian Stadil, Chairman and Owner of Hummel will discuss company karma, and Thorkil Sonne, founder of the socioeconomic company Specialisterne will share his experience on building a company based on social commitment.

Students must bring the solutions of the future

- Today, CSR is important to all companies. In fact, many things indicate that it will be difficult to run a proper business if you do not behave properly. It is important that the new graduates have a solid basis, so the companies won't have to spend a lot of resources on training them in CSR, says Christian Honoré, KPMG partner and keynote speaker on Responsibility Day.

- I hope that we are able to stimulate the students' curiosity and create an interest in the field. We need to remove he focus from only being on the bottomline and towards the fact that it is possible to make money and at the same time be aware of the impression you make on your surroundings. And the students have to bring the solutions of tomorrow, says Christian Honoré.

From Responsibility to Roskilde

Before Responsibility Day, the students will have the chance to challenge themselves with different cases. They will be presented to different problems of which responsibility is the common denominator. The students will work with responsible banking, management communication and the international reputation of companies.

A winning group from each programme will be announced at the end of Responsibility Day,  The prizes are gift certificates from Academic Books, and one lucky winning group will receive the first prize, which is tickets for Roskilde Festival 2012, sponsored by KPMG.

PRME – an international collaboration on principles for responsible management education

In 2008, CBS joined an international collaboration about the UN principles for responsible management education (PRME).

Responsibility Day is one of several CSR initiatives, which are launched by CBS as part of the PRME collaboration. KPMG is sponsoring this 3rd Responsibility Day at CBS.
