Students from America came up with the best solution for a strategy for Danish energy in the CBS Case Competition

Focus on the areas where you are ahead of the competitors. This was the recommendation to DONG Energy from the four students from the University of Georgetown who won the CBS Case Competition 2012. 48 specially chosen elite students from the whole world participated in the competition, but both Thailand and Singapore were pipped at the post by the American university.

Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, was member of the jury:

- The University of Georgetown suggested that we strengthen the areas in which we have a serious competitive advantage; our offshore windfarms. At the end of the day, we thought it was a great suggestion. To focus our strength in an area, where we already are ahead of our competition.

32 hours and assessed by Scandinavian CEOs

The students join the competition in teams of four and have 32 hours to come up with a solution before it is presented to the jury that consists of Scandinavian CEOs.

This year's challenge was DONG Energy's transition to green production of electricity and heat. "Where should we concentrate our efforts to maintain our leading position?", was the question. The clear strategy of the winning team gave Georgetown first place ahead of Tsinghua University of China and the National University of Singapore.

 

CBS Case Competition

The competition is held for the 11th time. 32 students are running the competition and the budget of 1.2 million comes from the business community and non-profit foundations. The purpose of CBS Case Competition is to establish a network between the students, put an international focus on Denmark and strengthen the relation between the Danish business community and the universities.
