The Aspen Institute’s Case portal for Peace and Economics

The Aspen Institute has created a Case portal for Peace and Economics. This portal promotes teaching materials with regards to peace and business. They are currently seeking additional materials that either directly or indirectly discuss peace and business. Many existing business materials may be contributed to the portal with the addition of a teaching guide for incorporating the issue of peace into the case.

Some topics to explore are:

  • Why is peace good for business and how can if affect business strategy?

  • How valuable is peace? Can it be discounted or priced?

  • What is the impact of the absence of peace (and therefore the presence of crime and violence) on a company’s cost structure?

  • How can we measure levels of peacefulness?

  • What factors should business look for when assessing peace?

  • What can business do to create more peaceful environments?

  • How can companies encourage peace in the workplace and communities?

  • How can investors factor peace into their analysis?

We would greatly appreciate any cases, articles, or links that you would like to submit for consideration to the portal. Please feel free to forward this to any colleagues who might be interested in contributing to the portal as well, or using it as a resource for teaching materials.
