EGB @ the Sino-Danish Center - trade, investment and geo-economics research workshop
Researchers from EGB joined forces with colleagues from other Danish universities as well as universities in China and Japan to attend the second Sino-Danish Center workshop in Beijing considering trade, investment and geo-economics. This was held on December 12th and 13th. The papers that were presented at the two-day event included studies of offshoring, reshoring, and re-offshoring (with particular reference to Chinese firms), patterns of development in Peru and Kazakhstan, the concept of geoeconomic risk, non-market strategies, the position of Japanese firms in China, tariff elimination, investment decisions and distance, investment in Ukraine, and attitudes towards investors in Africa. There were also two papers looking in depth at the character of foreign aid and public attitudes towards it. The discussions were very fruitful indeed and the participants are already looking ahead to continuing the dialogues during the years to come.
