PhD defence: Hallur Tor Sigurdarson
The thesis is developed around an ethnographically inspired study in a ministerial department. The study enquires into encounters and processes in the Department pertaining to the development of new initiatives. In this regard, special attention is paid to how two different Ministers affect the Department’s ‘mood’, a concept used to describe desire-driven organisational movements (i.e. desires to secure and serve).
Methodologically, the thesis experiments with process philosophy, especially for analysis and narration. In terms of theory and contribution, the thesis is framed as a study of organisational entrepreneurship and theorises a productive ‘relationality’ between entrepreneurship, public bureaucracy and leadership.
