My research takes an interdisciplinary and mixed methods approach to investigating tourist and consumer behavior. I combine insights from evolutionary and social psychology with the fields of tourism, service research, and marketing as well as teach on such subjects. I have, for instance, conducted research and teaching on the intergroup biases of xenophilia and xenophobia.
I am currently a PhD candidate at RMIT University, Melbourne, and hold a master’s degree from University of Copenhagen. I have published research in the top-tier tourism journals Annals of Tourism Research and Journal of Travel Research. Selected publications: Alexander Josiassen; Florian Kock; Astrid Norfelt / Tourism Affinity and Its Effects on Tourist and Resident Behavior, In: Journal of Travel Research, Vol. 61, No. 2, 2.2022, p. 299-313 Astrid Warncke Nørfelt; Florian Kock; Alexander Josiassen / Tourism Xenophilia : Examining Attraction to Foreignness.
