2011-12 Visiting Fellowship Program, Centre for European Studies, Australian National University

The 2011-12 Visiting Fellowship Program at the Centre for European Studies at the Australian National University in Canberra is now open.

The Visiting Fellowship Program is part of the Centre for European Studies’ mission to promote research, education and dialogue between Europe and Australia. The Visiting Fellowship Program is specifically aimed at supporting and hosting local and international scholars wishing to undertake research at the Australian National University.

Each year the Centre for European Studies and the Research School of Humanities announce broad research themes. Applications from scholars interested in these themes from any discipline are welcome. Please note that while priority is accorded to applications addressing these themes, proposals outside these themes will also be considered.

The broad theme for 2011-12 is ‘The European Union: A Major Business Partner for Australia’. Within this theme, several projects are being developed that take a comparative Australia-EU perspective and/or focus specifically on Australia-EU relations, such as:

 • Europe’s sovereign debt crisis and its consequences

 • Regulatory barriers to trade and investment

 • Integration and structure, volatility and risk in capital markets

 • Corporate governance and social responsibility

 • New ICT applications in e-business and e-government

 • Labour market flexibility: policies and experiences

 • Internationalisation of SMEs: experience and policy implications

 • Economic approaches to dealing with climate change

These 2011-12 projects draw on some of the existing research interests in the ANU College of Business and Economics (http://cbe.anu.edu.au), but applications in relation to other research interests in business and economics will also be considered, as will applications related to research theses in the ANU Research School of Humanities and the Arts (http://hrc.anu.edu.au/)
