Awards to elite researcher and research talent at CBS
Elite researcher Professor Morten Bennedsen and PhD Fellow Grith Skovgaard Ølykke receive research awards
On Thursday 24th January, Professor Morten Bennedsen from the Department of Finance at CBS will receive the Elite Research Award of 1 million Danish kroner from the Danish Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation. The award is given to seven Danish researchers. Each award is worth 1 million Danish kroner, of which 200,000 Danish kroner is given as a personal award of honour.
At the same time, PhD Fellow Grith Skovgaard Ølykke from the Law Department at CBS will receive an Elite Research Travel Scholarship of 250,000 Danish kroner. The scholarship is given to promising and talented PhD students and is earmarked for a study visit in an international elite research environment. Grith Skovgaard Ølykke is planning a stay at the School of Law at the University of Nottingham.
The Elite Research initiative was created to reward and make visible the efforts of some of Denmark’s most talented researchers and research talents.
The reason for the award
In the Danish Councils for Independent Research’s explanation for awarding Morten Bennedsen the award, it for instance states: ”On the one hand, Morten Bennedsen has created methodical innovations within finance, which means that his articles are continuously published in the most recognised journals within finance, economics, and political science. On the other hand, he has created concrete, practical, and new knowledge beneficial to Danish and international businesses.
- I am very pleased and honoured. It is a great recognition. Not only for me, but for all the people I work with. The money will be used for continued research in small and middle-sized businesses with a focus on family businesses, Morten Bennedsen says.
The research talent
Grith Skovgaard Ølykke graduated from her MSc programme in Business Administration and Commercial Law at CBS in February 2006.
She completed her BSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law in 2003 with the highest average in her class. She graduated as an MSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law with an average of 10.3 – the second highest grade average in the programme in 2006/2007.
On April 1, 2007, she started as a PhD student with a project financed by and related to the Blurring Boundaries project.

In her PhD project, Grith Skovgaard Ølykke will evaluate the Danish way of liberalising public transport and will compare it to the liberalising of public transport in other EU member states.
