4:10 pm: “Why Now is the Time to Create a Truly Sustainable Supply Chain”
Key Note by Professor Mark Pagell, University College, Dublin
Companies and their stakeholders have been discussing the need to create truly sustainable supply chains for at least two decades. In that time significant progress has been made in reducing the harm that existing supply chains create; the typical supply chain is now significantly more sustainable than it was 20 years ago. However, most if not all of these chains are also inherently unsustainable and the efforts that have been made to date have not addressed the fundamental need to create radical-ly different ways of creating value. This presentation will discuss how companies and their external stakeholders have created the more sustainable trap, how to exit this trap, and why now is an opti-mal time to lead the way to true sustainability.
