CBS is OECD Forum Knowledge partner

According to OECD, populist policy and nationalism, falling trust in the authorities and a rapid technological development all contribute to broaden the gaps in international society. The focus of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting 2017, where Denmark holds the chairmanship, is on Making Globalisation Work - Better Lives for All.

OECD is an international organisation, which was established in 1960 to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people in a democratic context. The Ministerial Council Meeting, i.e. the official part of the programme, starts with a more informal two-day OECD Forum for think tanks, universities, NGOs and companies titled "Bridging Divides". CBS will participate as a special knowledge partner.

"It is more important than ever to bring all our strength to the table and discuss how we can avoid to keep distancing ourselves from each other, both as society and as individuals, but not least how we, through business and growth, can support inclusion across nations and groups," says Dorte Salskov-Iversen, Vice President for International Affairs at CBS.

The OECD Forum 2017 constitutes of three tracks: Inclusive Growth, Digitalisation and Trust. Researchers from CBS will give speeches and hold seminars; Professor Karin Buhmann, Professor Kim Normann Andersen and Professor with special responsibilities Christian Geisler Asmussen will hold a CBS seminar about Corporate Challenges: Research perspectives on Inclusive Growth, Digitalisation and Trust. Karin Buhmann has also contributed to the prestigious OECD Yearbook, which features stories and articles written by heads of state, Nobel Prize winners, CEOs, researchers, etc. Karin Buhmann has written an article about responsible business conduct and the neglected impact of the contribution of OECD's so-called national contact points (NCP) to the coherence between government policy and corporate business practice.

According to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark will use the chairmanship to promote an international dialogue on "how growth and employment in the OECD countries can be strengthened and how as many people as possible can benefit from the positive development." According to the press release from the Ministry, Denmark takes the lead to ensure that globalisation gets a high priority on the international agenda." The OECD Forum 2017 is held 6-7 June and is followed by the Ministerial Council Meeting on 7-8 June - as always in Paris, where OECD has its headquarters.
