RISK REPORT 360

The world is transforming. Power balances are shifting, technological advancements are accelerating, and misinformation is spreading at an unprecedented pace. The mechanisms that once ensured stability and growth are no longer enough.

This creates new demands for leadership and the development of both current and future leaders. But what exactly are these demands, and how can Danish companies and leaders prepare for challenges that are reshaping fundamental conditions?

These questions are explored in the new Risk Report 360 published by the research network Navigating 360 with contributions from CBS researchers.

The report sets the stage for a workshop on 20 March 2025, where around 75 leaders and leadership experts will gather at CBS with a shared objective: to discuss how leaders can be equipped to manage the complex and wide-ranging risks outlined in today’s evolving threat landscape.

“Crises are not only overlapping – they are accelerating one another, and this calls for a fundamental rethinking of leadership, where we can no longer act within narrow national or sector-specific boundaries. The solutions of the future will emerge at the intersection of politics, business and research,” says Poul Fritz Kjær, professor at CBS and one of the report’s contributors.

Four risks reshaping leadership

The report highlights four critical risks that challenge global stability. Climate change threatens food security and infrastructure, while geopolitical tensions create uncertainty.

At the same time, artificial intelligence is advancing faster than regulation can keep up, and an escalating information war is undermining democracies as well as businesses. According to the report, these challenges can only be addressed through a coordinated and flexible leadership strategy.

Denmark as a test bed for new leadership

The report suggests that Denmark could play a key role in developing a new leadership model. A plan should strengthen collaboration between politics, business and research to create a more agile and resilient decision-making system.

Denmark has previously led the way with tripartite agreements on climate policy, and researchers see potential in expanding this model to other areas of society.
