Abstract
Chinese as well as Danish companies are challenged in terms of leadership. Most Chinese and Danish company managers are stuck in hierarchies, KPIs and a mind-set that dates back to the 20th Century – before the internet, before mobile technology and before we realised that everything we do, must not only be financially sound, but also socially and environmentally sustainable. The keyword for the 21st Century is leadership with a purpose that reaches beyond financial performance. A company with a clear purpose and a strategy to turn purpose into reality will be welcomed all over the world. In this context: Why do Chinese companies need to learn from the West? And vice versa – why does the West need to learn from the East?
