Prestigious Funding to Colleagues in the Department of Marketing
It is with great satisfaction that I can announce that two of my colleagues last week were awarded prestigious funding.
Associate Professor Milena Micevski was awarded the Carlsberg Foundation Semper Ardens: Accelerate grant for her research on contemporary issues that salespeople and their customers face in the retail sales environment.
Professor Gülen Sarial Abi was awarded the Carlsberg Foundation Research Infrastructure Grant for her joint research with Professor Raji Srinivasan (the University of Texas at Austin) and Associate Professor Aulona Ulqinaku (Leeds University Business School). Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, countries introduced economic sanctions against Russia, calling for multinational firms to comply with these economic sanctions. This grant will contribute to Professor Sarial Abi’s research on consumer responses to multinational firms that use different market exit strategies following economic sanctions. The findings will provide a novel theoretical account of the effect of multinational firms’ foreign market exit strategies following economic sanctions and will suggest actionable managerial guidance.
Milena & Gülen
Professor Gülen Sarial Abi was awarded yet another funding, namely Global Innovation Network Program Grant from the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. The grant is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science’s efforts to internationalize Danish research and innovation. The Department of Marketing has behavioral scientists, who investigate the societal implications of innovation and digital technologies and publish in top international academic journals. With this grant, the Department of Marketing will form relationships and networking activities to further investigate the societal implications of innovation in digital technologies in Denmark.
As part of GINP, the Department of Marketing will form relationships and networking activities with the USC Marshall Center for Global Innovation, the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business Center for Excellence in Service, Temple University Fox School of Business Global Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics, and University of St. Gallen Institute of Behavioral Science and Technology.
Each partner is a research institute or Center of Excellence (CoE) at a marketing department of a significant higher education institution, representing significant stakeholders in their national science systems, and doing strategic research on understanding the implications of innovation and digital technologies. The Department of Marketing will organize activities that will benefit different stakeholders in Denmark. Each partner will provide know-how on doing groundbreaking research, building a network of multidisciplinary international researchers, and collaborating with private and public institutions. More importantly, they will contribute to the education of their Ph.D. fellows by offering them Ph.D. seminars on innovation and digital technologies.
The Department of Marketing looks forward to starting our collaborations with these leading institutions to further understand the societal implications of innovation in digital technologies in Denmark. As a department, it is a step forward for us to be the knowledge hub and excellence center that contributes to consumer well-being in Denmark.
I would like to congratulate many times Milena and Gülen for having been awarded the above funding.
