Grand challenges and public opinion: New survey on the Nordics in comparative perspective

’What do citizens think of robots performing care tasks? What kinds of options, if any, do citizens prefer for financing enhanced military expenditure due to the Ukraine-Russia war? Do people perceive their own job at threat due to the green transition? Caroline de la Porte and Zhen Im present the preliminary results from these questions and many more from the original survey ‘Societal Challenges, Public Opinions and Public Policies in 10 countries’ (SCOaPP-10), at the final conference of ReNEW project, in Reykjavik, 22-24 May 2024. The survey taps into citizens’ perceptions of challenges and their views on the policy responses. The challenges are Population ageing/social risks, automation & digitalisation, climate change/Green Transition and War. The survey is funded by the Nordforsk-funded Reimaging Norden in an Evolving World (ReNEW) project, Polytechnic of Turin, the Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (DIGIT) at the University of Sussex, the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, the Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC) and the Department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB) at Copenhagen Business School.
