Charlotta

Meet Charlotta, a student from BSc in Business Administration and Digital Management

Why did I choose my programme?
I chose Digital Management because of its growing importance in our increasingly digital world. We live in rapidly changing times, and I was interested in the technologies driving this shift and how they can be used for business or other purposes. Additionally, I wanted to study at CBS because it’s a leading business school in the Nordics, with more international ties compared to schools in my home country. This would give me a great base, as I wish to pursue an international career.

What do I like the best?
What I’ve enjoyed most about the DM programme is learning how to effectively use data. Prior to CBS, I had limited knowledge of programming and information technologies, but the BSc DM has shown me how crucial these tools are in the business world. I also appreciate the supportive and collaborative environment in the BSc DM programme, which has made the first year even better. My fellow students are both very clever and open to working together, which makes studying and student life so much more exciting.

What do I think is difficult?
It was a bit overwhelming getting used to studying, writing and communicating in English, and I had to be patient to get into the habit of it.  At first, the lectures might be challenging to follow, but it does get easier each month. Luckily, it all comes with a huge reward as it makes you connect to more people, academic material and opportunities.

What would I have liked to have known before starting my programme?
It would have been helpful to research the BSc DM-specific courses more thoroughly beforehand, which could have made my first few months smoother and less overwhelming. I could have done some preparation on the courses that I found more challenging.

I wish I had known that many courses at CBS are similar to other programmes, with some being more tailored to specifics, so a cross-programme collaboration environment could be very helpful – looking outside of Digital Management.

What do I want to do after finishing my programme?
I wish to focus on my time at CBS now and hopefully continue a master’s degree that I enjoy, maybe at CBS as I really enjoy the environment and opportunities here and in Copenhagen. Later, I hope to work in an international, stimulating environment, and be part of projects that I believe in.

If I could give myself a piece of advice before starting, it would be…
Be open to new experiences and challenge yourself both in the BSc DM programme and in general. Even if it feels like you’re stepping outside your comfort zone, it will be worth it. Understand that some courses may seem complex at first, but you’ll learn by doing, and what initially seems challenging will eventually become so much clearer and manageable.
