IOA Research Forum #2

The World is no Longer the Same

Time: 5 March 2025 from 12.00-13.30 PM
Location: Kilen, room K. 146

We invite you to the second IOA Research Forum of the semester, where Mads Ejsing, postdoc in the Center for Applied Ecological Thinking (CApE) at University of Copenhagen, will present his new book, Verden er ikke længere den samme – økologiske krisefortællinger i det Antropocæne (The world is no longer the same – ecological crisis-narratives in the Anthropocene).

The book offers a new materialist perspective on the climate crisis, positioning humans on the same level as the rest of nature—neither above nor below. The ongoing climate crisis calls for new theories and narratives that examine cultural, social, political – and organizational - issues from an ecological perspective. The book explores what happens if we open our analyses and perspectives to the many active, more-than-human forces that exist both within us and in the world around us.

Following the presentation, Justine Grønbæk Pors (MPP), Morten Knudsen and Christian De Cock will act as discussants and explore the (ir)relevance of new materialism to the study of organizations. This will be followed by a panel discussion, in which the four presenters will engage with questions from the audience.
