The Department of Marketing (MARKTG) invites applications for a vacant position as post doc. The full-time position is part of the research project “The Dark Side of the Sharing Economy”, funded by the Carlsberg Foundation and headed by Associate Professor Tobias Schäfers. Employment is to be taken up as early as possible in the beginning of 2020. The position is limited to two years based on the Carlsberg Foundation project funding, without any teaching obligations. There may be an option of extending it for a third year, funded via teaching at the Department of Marketing.

The Department of Marketing focuses on contributing to a holistic understanding of the interactions and activities in the marketplace. Thus, our research focuses on marketing, yet we draw on other academic disciplines to the extent that they improve the quality of our marketing research. We accordingly publish in both marketing and other relevant journals contained within the Academic Journal Guide (AJG; formerly ABS) ranking list. The research of the department covers broad areas (often cross-disciplinary) in marketing. Faculty members use a wide range of methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. Through our research-based teaching, we contribute across a palette of courses and programs at Copenhagen Business School.

The post doc will join a group of researchers working in the field of the Sharing Economy with a special interest in customer reactions to sharing-based offers. The specific research project is funded through a Young Researcher Fellowship, granted by the Carlsberg Foundation for a three-year period from 2020 until 2022.

The specific tasks of the post doc are:

  • Conducting independent research on the topic of customer misbehavior in the sharing economy
  • Collaborating with members of the research group on the individual research projects
  • Developing theoretical models and experimental research designs for testing them
  • Conducting quantitative analyses based on the gathered data
  • Contributing towards achieving the overall project objectives regarding publication and dissemination of the project results

Candidates should hold a PhD from an accredited institution. They should have a strong research record (or potential) in areas relevant to the project (including but not limited to marketing, consumer behavior, or consumer psychology). An advantage will be if a candidate has experience with conducting research on the sharing and publications in this area. Moreover, candidates should possess skills in quantitative methods of marketing research. We are particularly looking for methods skills related to designing and conducting lab and field experiments and analyzing experimental data.

Recruitment procedure

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist a minimum of two applicants; if possible, five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline. 

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed, each applicant will be notified of the outcome of his or her application.
