José Ossandón, Ph.D. from Goldsmiths, University of London, and Assistant Professor from Escuela de Sociologia, Universidad Diego Portales, Chile, is visiting IOA for the next six months.

José’s main areas of interest are economic sociology and contemporary social theory. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on the history of the private health insurance created during the Chicago Boys reforms in Chile.

José is currently working on two main research projects: a study about the consumer credit industry in Chile (funded by the Chilean Science Fund and the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion, University of California Irvine), and a historical network analysis of the Chilean corporate elite.

He has co-edited three books: two volumes of articles that use and discuss Luhmann’s social system theory, and a book of interviews with leading cultural theorists.

Furthermore, José is the founder of the blog and research network: estudiosdelaeconomia.wordpress.com.
