Nina Frausing Pedersen

In order to obtain the PhD degree, Nina Frausing Pedersen has submitted her thesis entitled:

A Framing Contest between Institutional Actors on Crypto-Asset Policymaking in the EU

The emergence of Bitcoin in 2009 sparked a revolution in the realm of crypto-assets, leading to the creation of various novel innovations within financial services. These novel innovations challenge traditional finance, prompting debates on the effectiveness of existing regulation. The Markets-in-Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation highlights Europe’s response to increasing policy uncertainty arising from crypto-assets. Through a case study of an EU working group, this research reveals how institutional actors construct meaning and influence policymaking on crypto-assets. It contributes to our understanding of how micro-mobilizing actions shape institutions and technological trajectories, shedding light on negotiation strategies.
