“At CBS, we prioritise creating environments that support talented researchers early in their careers, enabling them to realise their potential and contribute to important progress for the benefit of companies and society at large.”

These are the words of Søren Hvidkjær, Dean of Research at CBS, referring to the fact that it is the first time in the history of CBS that two associate professors are appointed Chairs. These are usually awarded to more experienced professors; however, this time CBS chooses to invest in early-career researchers – a decision emphasising CBS’ commitment to supporting and developing young talented researchers.

Aims to bridge gap between research and practice

The appointments of Anne Mette Møller as Leadership Chair and Thomas Poulsen as Governance Chair have become a reality due to a generous grant from the CBS Executive Foundation.

“The CBS Executive Foundation aims to bridge the gap between research and practice and develop the leaders of tomorrow. We are therefore very proud that our financial performance in 2023, which is the best in the foundation’s 30-year history, allows us to award grants for research at CBS in the form of the CBS Executive Fonden Chair Program. This bridges the gap even further between research and practice,” says Anne Marie Jess Hansen, CEO of the CBS Executive Foundation.

“This is a tremendous recognition”

Anne Mette Møller is Associate Professor at the Department of Organization at CBS and does research on organisation and leadership with a special focus on professionals.

“I’m very pleased and honoured to be appointed Chair. While it gives me the opportunity to further develop research and teaching in leadership and organisation at CBS, I look forward to contributing to the development of this field, especially through the CBS Leadership Centre that works as a hub for those interested in leadership,” says Anne Mette Møller.

Thomas Poulsen does research on corporate governance and is mostly focused on how company owners and board members administer their roles, which has an impact on how they work with and prioritise the many resources private companies have at their disposal.

“This way, corporate governance is significant to corporate legitimacy, efficiency and operations. At the Center for Corporate Governance, we already have an internationally recognised research centre and environment, and with this appointment, I’m hopefully able to contribute to maintaining and developing this position as well as the focus on sustainable governance in the Danish business community,” says Thomas Poulsen who really appreciates the appointment:

“This is a great recognition, which I genuinely appreciate, and I’m truly grateful for CBS’ decision to give me one of the two chairs following from the donation from the CBS Executive Foundation.”
