We are very happy to announce that Dr. Tobias Schäfers will join our faculty as Associate Professor of Marketing in September 2018. Tobias is currently Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Technical University Dortmund, Germany. He obtained his diploma in business studies at the Private University Göttingen and a doctoral degree in Marketing at the EBS University of Business and Law, Wiesbaden. In the past, Tobias was a visiting researcher at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and at the Aalto University School of Business, Helsinki. Tobias has published in journals such as Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business Research, Marketing Letters, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and European Journal of Marketing, among others. He currently serves as a co-chair for the “B2B Marketing & Channels of Distribution” track of the 2018 Academy of Marketing Science Annual Conference.

In his research, Tobias investigates the shift from ownership-oriented business models to access-based services and its implications for sales organizations, the effects of digitalization on customer-company interactions, and how customers react to price introductions for products or services that were previously for free. Tobias has been awarded for the quality of his teaching. In the classroom, he has taught a broad range of marketing topics, such an introductory course on the principles of marketing, a specialized master-level course on industrial marketing, and courses on marketing research methods.

Welcome, Tobias.
