MSC researchers receive funding for the new CBS Permaculture Garden
MSC researchers Maribel Blasco and Isabel Froes have received DKK 100,000 from Frederiksberg Fonden for the launch of CBS’ new Permaculture Garden (Permahaven).
Permaculture stands for ‘permanent agriculture’ and is a sustainable design framework which aims to integrate and regenerate land, resources, people and the environment.
Permaculture design frameworks are increasingly being applied globally in a wide range of different contexts to |

support and inspire more sustainable lifestyles, to improve learning and mental health, to sanitize consumption, to design liveable, humane social systems, and to inspire educational projects to support sustainability learning and active learning – and even to ‘green the desert’ in desertified regions of Africa.
The Permahaven project consists of three main elements: lifelong learning, biodiversity and wellbeing. CBS’ large campus has immense potential to improve biodiversity if a greater proportion of the campus area is transformed so that it supports the green agenda, in line with Frederiksberg Municipality’s Biodiversity Strategy. The garden will function as a hub for learning, knowledge sharing and dissemination about sustainability, where the local community together with CBS students and staff can share their knowledge and contribute to enhancing biodiversity and wellbeing in Frederiksberg Municipality.
The Permaculture Garden is located on the Klimahaven site opposite CBS’ ‘Kilen’ campus building and Nordre Fasanvej Metro Station. The area has been prepared for the installation of raised beds and paths, and CBS architects are involved in the design of the garden. Construction is currently underway, and the launch of the garden is to take place later in the spring – to be announced.
